Flexible joint

The mold was developed for the manufacturing of a flexible joint made of elastomeric material, integrated with metallic inserts and structural shims, in order to ensure the required stiffness and flexibility for the application.

The flexible joint represents a key component of the engine nozzle control system, allowing the movements required for thrust vectoring.

The activity included:

– the complete design of the mold;
– the development and issue of manufacturing and assembly drawings for workshop production;
– the study and implementation of the thermal feeding system, aimed at ensuring an optimal temperature distribution during the vulcanization process.
